Take a step back in time when the St Petersburg Museum of History hosts Florida film historian Lisa Bradberry for a sneak peek into the film era of St. Petersburg’s Weedon Island at “When Hollywood Came to Weedon Island,” Thursday, May 11 at 7PM.
In 1933, Weedon Island was the site of a short-lived movie studio called Sun Haven that filmed three melodramas at various locations around Pinellas County. Bradberry will share the unique tale of the filming – including the arrival of Buster Keaton – and how Florida, not California, nearly became the film capital of the world.
Where: St Petersburg Museum of History, 335 2nd Ave NE, St Petersburg, FL 33701 (parking available)
When: May 11. Doors open at 6:30 and the Program begins at 7PM.
