Gopher Tortoise Day

April 10 is Gopher Tortoise Day! The goal of Gopher Tortoise Day is to increase awareness and appreciation for these long-lived, gentle reptiles. To celebrate this tort-ally awesome day, we’ll have a gopher tortoise investigation station so you can learn what it means to be a “keystone species”, in addition to tortoise themed games, activity pages, crafts, and more!

And don’t forget to join us on Saturday, April 12 at 10:30 a.m. for our Gopher Tortoise Trek! This tour will be led by field biologist and environmental educator, George L. Heinrich. Spots are limited so advance registration is required.
